MANUAL CALCULATIONS

Example calculation of a beam supported at both ends loaded with force F = 10 000 N / 1020 kg.

Calculations in the form of pdf file.

Assumptions:

- the beam is symmetrical about neutral axis 

- shear stress calculated as average

E – elastic modulus, Young’s modulus

J – moment of inertia of section

S – section surface area

EJ – beam’s stiffness subject to bending

σg – normal stresses located in points farthest away from neutral axis

τ – average shear stresses in points located on neutral axis

kr – allowable stress for tension/compression = kg

Re – yield strength

x – factor of safety
